The Castle Semple Visitor Centre and Country Park provide a great place to enjoy ‘wonderful water, walks and wildlife’ all year round in the ancestral homelands of the Clan Semple at the gateway to Scotland’s largest Regional Park.
Follow the ‘Semple Trail’ for a level off road route from the railway station, to the village, the Visitor Centre and along to Parkhill Wood past Castle Semple Collegiate Church and The Temple on Kenmure Hill to the village of Howwood. Why not visit our Discover Parkhill website?
Lots of outdoor activity courses and group taster sessions are available as well as boat hire and bike hire, the Centre is on Sustrans off road cycle route 7 Glasgow – Irvine. There are a number of water sports and fishing clubs based at the Loch.
The Countryside Rangers provide an environmental education programme can offer advice about local walking routes and wildlife. Look on the events page to see what special events, walks and family friendly activities are coming up.
The Visitor Centre with café and gift shop is open all year round providing information on what to do and see plus there is an exhibition on the Castle Semple Estate.
Boat Hire Zorbs, row boats, aqua trikes and kayaks are available for hire on Castle Semple Loch during the summer season at weekends and on public and school holidays if it is good weather and not too windy.

Fishing Permits for coarse (non-migratory) fishing on Castle Semple Loch are available from the Visitor Centre. The loch has perch, pike and roach. Eels can also be caught.
