Spier’s Old School Grounds
Fun Family Activity Category: Country Parks and Places of Interest
Spier’s Old School Grounds is A Public Park regularly patrolled by the North Ayrshire Ranger Service and a site for conservation, education, relaxation, orienteering, geocaching, dog walking, etc.
Car Parking is at the entrance or in the grounds during events or if the ranger has opened the vehicle gates. Pedestrian entry is always possible. A number of information boards carry details of events, maps of the grounds, etc. Picnic tables and seats are located throughout the parklands. Two open lawn areas are used for family sports such as football, cricket, golf, etc.
The path network is well surfaced and suitable for wheelchairs, bikes, prams, etc. A group called the Friends of Spiers run regular practical conservation days and have a Celebratory and Memorial tree planting scheme which is advertised on the information boards. An area called the Coronation Garden is especially attractive.
A lot of wildlife is around, with fungi, wildflowers, and many different species of native and exotic trees.
A great place to take the kids for an exciting adventure.
